Mishima Surface Decoration Workshop

Discover the Mishima technique for surface decoration on clay. It is an inlay technique where you draw on the surface of clay, inlay color into the lines of the drawing, and wipe the color away, creating a beautiful design as elaborate or as simple as you wish. 

The workshop will provide you with a leather hard tile to practice on. Bring two leather hard pieces. It can be a plate/ mug/ bowl/ vase or anything else. Any flat or rounded surfaces are best. Once you practice on the tile, you will draw your desired designs on your own pieces. You can pre work your design – it can be as minimal or as elaborate as you want it to be. Additional ideas for designs will be provided.
