Born and raised in Mexico City, I’ve always had a passion for working with raw materials, just
like my ancestors did. I love the idea of taking raw materials that are perceived to have little
value and shaping them into beautiful objects, made of my own thoughts. The process of
working with clay is both simple and complex and gives me a deep connection to my history,
clay has been used for centuries to create utilitarian objects, as well as tell the story of our
ancestors. My inspiration comes from growing up around the black clay (Barro negro) from
Oaxaca, the Talavera from Puebla, and the brilliant trees of life from Metec. They awaken in me
a desire to create and become a servant of the transformation.
I began my ceramic training in 2017 in Leesburg, VA where I met several wonderful potters.
My creative style reflects the many influences I have had over the years and the love and passion
I have for my Mexican roots and history. My work is primarily handmade stoneware clay and
the forms are spare and traditional, which gives it its distinctive lines.
I love making pottery! It is a constant source of joy and amusement. I’m grateful for the people
who have taught and helped me learn the art of clay making and feel incredibly fortunate to be
able to do something I am passionate about.
